What a time it is. What a time it has been. That girl Rona is running the streets and exhausted I am. I is she and she is me.
Today I am encouraging you to get your mess all the way together. No matter what that looks like for you - figure out what it is you need and capitalize on that thing. If you need rest. Sleep all day. If you need time with your family come up with a concept to bring everyone out of their rooms. If you need to restructure or reorganize DO THAT.
Don’t allow yourself to become so overwhelmed with the current state of things that you begin to let essential engagements fall by the waist side.
Your family still needs you.
Your friends still need you.
The version of you you’re dreaming of when this is all over? That version of you still requires you show up today. In whatever capacity that may be.
Put your phone down. Stop focusing in on what seems to be trending. If you don’t want to work on this day. Don’t. If you don’t want to engage with others, don’t. Don’t dwell here, but everyday know the only thing required of you is what you need in that moment.
I know what you may be thinking. "Nikia what if I don’t know what I want? What if the reason I’m on social media is because I need the validation. I’m working on my circle of friends but it’s still questionable. Like I’m trying. But this ain’t it." To that I say - everyone, myself included, should take the time to interview themselves.
At least once. Self-reflection is the key to progression.
Asking yourself the right questions will not only bring you closer to who you are now, but most importantly it will bring you to the version of self that you’re working so diligently to create.
Proper self reflection serves as a mirror to your innermost desires, goals and hopes. Some you won’t even realize you had.
Don’t overthink it. There are no rules. At this moment the entire world is shut down in one way or another. Go with your first thought. You can unpack your answers after they’ve been written down.
This is meant to be a form of release. An opportunity for learning. An expression of self love and a moment for increased engagement.
