The Importance of Authenticity
This week we’re recommending: The Hollywood Commandments: A Spiritual Guide to Secular Success by Devon Franklin
This Weeks Topic: The Importance of Authenticity

Stop trying to claim energy that doesn’t belong to you. True success can only be defined by your own works not what you feel/assume others wish to experience.
We all know the story of Hercules. We know that he’s got what it takes. The looks. The charisma. The style. The trophy on his arm. He’s who you wanna be ... but what about Phil? What about his parents that were just regular folks? What about the people that doubted his potential? Don’t they have a story too?
Do you think had they not played their rolls accordingly that Hercules would even be who he was? Legends aren’t made over night & if success if your aspiration then authenticity needs to be your foundation. Hercules may appear to have it all but your identity is all your own & uniquely built just for you. You could be a Phil. The trainer that led Hercules back to Olympus. You could be a parent. A caretaker. A teacher. It’s important that when molding your craft, your dream plan that you don’t stray from what comes naturally to you or who you really are. Becoming someone else for the sake of success is far more draining than being who you are in every aspect of your life whenever possible.

Authenticity is defined as: worthy of acceptance or belief as conforming to or based on fact Merriam Webster.
Authenticity increases:
1. Overall Well-being
2. Trust (professional & personal)
3. Increases appreciation for differences in others
“To be authentic, we must cultivate the courage to be imperfect — and vulnerable. We have to believe that we are fundamentally worthy of love and acceptance, just as we are. I’ve learned that there is no better way to invite more grace, gratitude and joy into our lives than by mindfully practicing authenticity.”— Brené Brown
Brené Brown, PhD, is the author of Daring Greatly
Journal Entry:
1. Determine what areas of your life aren’t really you
2. Assess the where & why of your lack of authenticity in these areas.
3. Ask yourself. What do you really have to lose by not better embracing your individuality?
Release your need to conform.
Embrace every aspect of you & you’ll find yourself exactly where you’re meant to be.
